The Connecticut Yankee Council serves over 7,000 girls, boys, and young adults ranging from 5 to 20 years of age. Of those 7,000 youth, 1,000 are beneficiaries of our ScoutReach program. The council spends $500 on every youth, each year to deliver our Scouting programs.
ScoutReach provides assistance to deliver these programs to hard-to-serve, urban and rural communities in New Haven and Fairfield Counties. It is the BSA’s commitment to making sure that all young people have an opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic background.
The Allan Houston Legacy Foundation (AHLF) is a multi-dimensional organization created to work with any individual, program, business, or institution that serves the community. AHLF manages The FISLL Project (TFP) which serves as its signature social impact arm. The FISLL Project focuses on Youth Voice and Leadership cultivation, combining the model of leadership teaching and restorative behavioral science with mentorship, character development, media content, events, and programming.
Scouting prepares all youth to be leaders, accept responsibility, and care about principles and causes beyond their self-interest. Our proven character-building programs are based on instilling values, learning-by-doing, and having fun, delivered by positive role models—our adult volunteers.
