The Country Club of New Canaan

Presented by:
Avelo Air, Official Airline of the Connecticut Yankee Council

Chaired by Wiley Mullins, President of Uncle Wileys, Inc.

Keynote Speaker Rocky Bleier

Rocky Bleier’s story – a tale of courage on both the football fields of America and the battle fields of Vietnam – has held audiences in rapt attention for years. Yet, the motivational message behind it – how ordinary people can become extraordinary achievers, defines success in the new American century.

With the same optimism, sense of humor, and steadfast determination that were his trademarks as a Pittsburgh Steelers running back, Rocky Bleier takes audiences from his early years through his professional career and talks about the lessons he learned along the way…lessons from which we can all benefit.

As a youth member of Boy Scouts, Bleier said, “Being out, being involved and doing things with their hands and getting in groups where they interact with one another, that’s what Scouting does. It helps our youth to be better-rounded as they go through a growth period. It’s not only the creation of leadership but also responsibility, understanding what a community is about, hard work, and due diligence in getting the job done.”

A STORIED PARTNERSHIP

For more than a century, Scouting has been a cornerstone of Fairfield and the surrounding communities. Scouting has provided thousands of young men and women with life-changing experiences in our communities- from camping and the outdoors to leadership and service to exposure to careers and skill opportunities. This is all while instilling valuable character development and practical life skills.

UNITED FOR THE FUTURE

We’re gathering at the Country Club of New Canaan to celebrate this longstanding tradition and rally for the future: Scouting has the opportunity to serve more youth in our communities. Our volunteers and professionals are working to grow Scouting in every neighborhood- from rural Redding to urban Stamford and every community in between. We believe no child who wants the opportunity to become a Scout should be denied.  That’s why we’ve expanded our ScoutReach program for underserved youth providing the programs, uniforms, and adventures to which these kids would otherwise not have access. Your support is needed to fuel our growth because we all know young people need Scouting more than ever.

GUIDED BY LEADERS: OUR TABLE HOSTING MODEL

Table Hosting is a way to bring friends and new supporters to Scouting. Table Hosts are not purchasing tables – unless they would like to. Table Hosts are responsible for inviting prospective donors to fundraisers, who know in advance – from the Table Host – that they will be asked to make a donation at the 2022 Leadership Dinner.

If you cannot attend the Leadership Dinner but would like to support our mission to serve youth in the Greater New Haven area, please donate below.
