Hello Scouting Family—
We hope that you are staying safe and well. Our COVID-19 Task Force continues to evaluate the landscape and provide recommendations to us. We are extending the ban on in-person gatherings- including council, district and units- and the closure of the Council Service Center, Scout Shop and council camps through April 30. This extension is to protect our youth and adults and help stop the spread of the virus, as consistent with the current guidance from our local, state, and federal officials.
This means every face-to-face Scouting interaction is prohibited, which includes in-person: unit meetings, roundtables, committee meetings, Courts of Honor (including for Eagle Scouts), patrol and den meetings, service projects and fundraisers. As a reminder, our guidance supersedes all other Scouting guidance, including the National BSA. Should any guidance from your chartered organization or your local health department be more restrictive, please follow that guidance as well.
We understand that this is not the news any of us want to hear, but it is necessary and in the best interest of our families and communities. If we all do our part to stop the spread, we will all be better off. Please take a moment to review our past guidance here which includes comprehensive details on how Scouting should, and should not, continue during this time.
We are excited and encouraged by how many of you are finding creative ways to continue Scouting remotely. We hope that you have seen our Scouting at Home page and are using it. If you have ideas or resources we can use, send them to scoutingathome@ctyankee.org or share them on our Facebook page. If you have questions on our COVID-19 efforts, please email health@ctyankee.org.
Yours in Scouting,
