Scouting is the largest youth movement in the world, with more than 55 million Scouts and adult volunteers serving in more than 170 National Scouting Organizations (NSOs). The Boy Scouts of America makes up about 2.2 million youth members and 800,000 adult volunteers. Understanding that Scouting in the USA is part of a global movement of young people is an important part of the Scouting experience. Through Scouting, Scouts have the capacity to change the world! Here is what we are working on:
ONE FEE $20 Youth and Adult — Come for the day or optional family night camping. No need to make a separate camping reservation, we will take care of it. Fee includes program, camp fees, patch, and a Saturday campmasters Hot Dog Lunch. Registration coming soon!
Be a part of the International Midway! We are asking Packs to adopt a country for the weekend (other than the US). Use your Den and Pack meetings to learn about your country — its culture and Scouting program — and set up a station at the International Midway at Hoyt . Here are some ideas.
Have your Cub Scouts make up posters of your country. Learn their Scout Oath. Share a game or activity they do in Scouting. Display their flag.
Jamboree on the Air– Jamboree on the Internet will take place during our weekend. (JOTA-JOTI) is a fun and exciting annual experience for all young people in Scouting using the widest range of technology communication channels to educate, promote cultural awareness, develop tolerance, along with building a sense of belonging to the worldwide Scout Movement. We will bring in a local Amateur Radio Club (HAM) and provide internet access at Hoyt for our Cub Scouts to talk to other Scouts all over the world!
Earn the Messengers of Peace Badge: Scouts do some amazing things, from simple community actions to large-scale projects such as preventing bullying in schools in the UK, helping street gangs in El Salvador to reduce violence, cleaning up a playground in Texas, and planting millions of trees all over Africa. Messengers of Peace is a flagship initiative of World Scouting, which inspires Scouts around the world to take action in their communities. By conducting a service project, your Scouts can earn this award and receive it at the event.
Special Webelos Program — opportunities to meet Webelos outdoor requirements.
PLUS some fun stuff — Inflatable obstacle course, fun games, Saturday night movie, campfire program and more!
We need your help to make this event happen. We are asking each pack to provide a person to serve on the planning committee and coordinate your pack participation.
