Powahay’s Webelos Adventure Pin Weekends
UPDATE — We have Leaders/Staffing Guide for the Sept. 26 Weekend — See below.
Powahay District presents… Town hosted Webelos Adventure Pin Weekends with a Cyber Webelos College for November 14, 2020. This provides the opportunity of in-person and outdoor activities for our Webelos in smaller safer group settings following social distancing and COVID-19 Guidelines. We are unable to use schools for our traditional Webelos College, so the Cyber Webelos College will allow us to continue this tradition. All designed to provide fun Webelos advancement opportunities.
We have invited Powahay’s Scouts BSA Troops to provide Webelos Den Chiefs and other support so your Webelos can start the experience of their next level of Scouting.
This page will be updated with more information for each weekend. Please check back.
UPDATE — Sept. 13
The Webelos Program:
- We are offering “Webelos Adventure Pin Weekends” followed by a Zoom Webelos College Nov. 14.
- The program will provide for early cross-over for Arrow of Light Webelos and complete requirements for 4th grade Webelos by the traditional Blue and Gold Dinner Month.
- The weekend dates are flexible and can be adjusted by each town. You can consolidate weekends if you want to schedule only two.
- District is providing a leader’s packet for each weekend with most of the planning done, so you can basically show up and run the event. Reviewing of the material and a little prep work may be required.
- Limit participation. Locations may require a limitation. Please limit this to Webelos only and if possible, one parent and child attendance. Siblings and other Cub Scouts should not attend.
- Do recruit — Encourage a “bring a buddy” event for 4th.grade 5th-grade youth.
The needs:
- Staffing: We are offering 2 required Webelos Pins and one elective each weekend. A good rule of thumb would be 2 adult instructors for each pin and hopefully a Scout Webelos Den Chief from each troop.
- Location: Locations can be different for each weekend. Most of the Adventure Pins are outdoor-related and we could use hiking trails. Locations require permission. If using a town park, a permit may not be needed, but a call to the appropriate town department would be required.
