Dear Scouting Family–
It is with mixed feelings that I announce that Charles Flowers, our Scout Executive, has been selected to serve as the Scout Executive of the Occoneechee Council in Raleigh, North Carolina, beginning March 1. I know you will all join me in congratulating Charles on this new opportunity in his professional Scouting journey and that he’ll be missed by all of us at the Connecticut Yankee Council.
For the past seven years, we have been fortunate to benefit from Charles’ skillful and mission-focused leadership which has resulted in the positive transformation of our Council. You’ll recall we were just recognized as a Gold-level Journey to Excellence council, a rare achievement that less than 10% of councils attain.
On a personal note, Charles has been an excellent mentor to me and many other volunteers. He has also become a close friend to many of us.
We will soon begin the process of selecting a new Scout Executive and will keep you updated on the progress.
Please join me, again, in thanking Charles for his seven years of dedication and leadership to our Council and congratulating him and his wife Carla on this new chapter in their lives. Finally, thank you for being part of our Scouting family.
Yours in Scouting,
David B. Sippin
Council President
